The
Learning Disability Association of the Mohawk Valley will hold a day-long presentation
that will discuss why many of today's students are struggling
with sensory issues, motor skill problems, and attention
issues - June 2, 2008 at
Bonnie Castle Year Round Resort, 31 Holland Street, Alexandria Bay,
NY. Visit
our website to find out more www.LDAMV.com.
Contact Aimee Doney or Sandi Kirch 315-785-9440. It
will address background information and research related
to movement, brain development, and learning. Attendees will learn,
fun, practical, easy to implement ideas for
improving skills in the areas of fine
and gross motor, attention and visual tracking skills which can be
used in pre-school settings,
elementary and middle school's current curricula. Once
armed with the effective strategies, teachers and parents will be
able to help children in the
above mentioned areas. Children who practice the strategies
will begin to feel a sense of accomplishment and develop a
greater desire to take chances and continue
learning. Included in the presentation
are ideas to improve handwriting in a quick fashion as well as
many activities to help children with
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
and/or other neurological disabilities. Strategies that help
children with disabilities can also be very
beneficial for those without disabilities
as everyone has weaknesses in some areas. Come, listen, learn,
and be energized to continue to take on the
daily challenges of nurturing the
children of today - the adult citizens of tomorrow. Cynthia
